Ooops!... I did it again

I meant to post these yesterday:
Melissa held a yard sale this past Saturday to raise funds to help pay for her nephew, Kalili's (and his parents, Kiyomi and Tevita), trip to Texas to attend a medical conference for a congenital nevus. It took us nearly 12 hours to set everything up on Friday and even sold several items in the process. There were so many items that was donated by the people in her neighborhood that it took up her entire garage. We ended up using a portion of her next door neighbor's yard. When I got home Friday night, I could hardly move to even get up and shower. But, I managed to roll out of bed at 6 a.m. the following morning (and in case you're wondering, I did shower), and headed over to Mel's home.

Before the chaos:

Scott was a great help in dealing with the Spanish-speaking populous. I wish I could speak fluent Spanish like him.

The kids sold donuts, snow cones, candy and other baked goods.

And the sale began:Hinckley and Malianna Melissa and her cute chunk-a-munk, Siotame.
Kiyomi, trying the impossible... sorting and organizing the piles and piles of donated clothes. She gave up after putting in what seem like hours of work and this is how far she got.Shelley, who suffers from MS, was always there to help, even though she wasn't feeling too well that day.At times, the rush was bad... some folks didn't want to take the time to park their vehicles, like this truck, which found a spot towards the middle of the road.
Others doubled parked and in fact, one elderly man was blocked in from these incompetent drivers and he got really upset. He finally calmed down after I found a way for him to get out of the metal maze.

There were many people who came and just donated funds and there were others who would buy and donate the rest. I was so touched by the generosity that these strangers had for Kalili. By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted from the heat and working all day. Scott and I became victims of the UV rays, but it was worth it. The yard sale did quite well and we managed to get rid of half of the donation pile.

=========================

This year's Father's Day was relaxing. The BEST HUBBY AND DADDY in the WORLD, Scott, wore his "Father's Day" tie our kiddos made him a couple of years ago and received a few compliments and a puzzled look from another father. We think he may be starting a new Father's Day fashion trend. We'll have to wait and see what happens next year. Needless to say, he looked great in it and it made our children feel good. Anyhow, Scott bar-b-qued london broil steaks and pork, while the children and I made potato salad, vegies and homemade bread sticks and Mom came over with cantaloupe, green salad and drinks. Quinn spent the entire Saturday at Thanksgiving Pt. with his pipe band for the Scottish Festival that he wasn't feeling too well to come over. We missed him and Ash!

I'd post pictures of Scott's day, but Deuce's memory card in his camera threw a tantrum, swallowed the photos and refused to spit them out. Now they're lost forever and for the first time in our married life, we have no proof that Scott celebrated Father's Day at all. :( Oh wait, we did video it! Yes... there is evidence!
